Team PM report:
We've had a fun week raiding on Team PM. I had originally cancelled both Tuesday and Thursday of this week to give people a break, and concentrate on our heroic Highmaul raid on Wednesday night. But some folks could not come to the Wednesday raid, so I left Tuesday on the calendar, and it was great fun. We filled out the group with some guildies who wanted to come kill stuff with us in BRF, and since Thanael needed the night off, Brumal tanked alongside Taklok. Several people were on alts. but we had enough damage to get the job done. We also had the great pleasure of having Voban join us, as Team Kaels took this week off. If not for a few butt pulls, we would have one-shot all 5 that we did - Hanz and Franz, Flamebender, Kromog, Gruul and Oregorger, although Kromog was a very close thing, requiring heroics at the end from the 4 people who were left alive to get him down! Lessons learned? Do NOT have your mouse keys set so that clicking either the right OR the left mouse button will engage the target.
Last night we went back to Heroic Highmaul in our continuing effort to get Ahead of the Curve for folks on Team PM and others in the guild who join us - the achievement requires killing Heroic Imperator before patch 6.2 drops which may happen as early as mid-June. Last week we did the first 4, so we had Twins, Ko'ragh and Imperator left to do. Again, apart from a couple of premature pulls due to mistakes in positioning, we did quite well. We two-shot Twin Ogron, but Ko'ragh took a little more work - one thing that I actually appreciate about these raid encounter designs is that even though we are over geared at this point for HM (at least Kor'ragh and Twins), we still have to execute the steps pretty precisely. That really is as it should be - heroic mode should require correct movement and good strategic choices. So we wiped 3 times on Ko'ragh (although one of those was a butt pull), but we did finally get him down, which was very satisfying.
We had time for a couple of pulls on Impy, and man is this fight a carnival of excess in terms of challenges - Voban told us he thought this fight was harder than the first few heroic fights in BRF, and I believe him. We were fortunate to have Voban and Phinian from Team Kaels with us - thanks you guys for coming! We got Impy down to about 50%, and we got a pretty good idea of what we need to do. I think this is actually good practice for our team for heroics in BRF, as we need to sharpen up our reactions and movements - you cannot be sloppy in heroic mode, certainly not at our gear levels. Nonetheless, we all felt good about the effort on Impy, and we will go after him again next Wednesday, again bringing along other guildies who are sufficiently geared and who have prepared for the fight - it's critical to go into this knowing pretty exactly what your role is, so a review of videos and guides are a must. Team PM will resume its normal Tuesday night run next week as well, either trains or heroic Gruul, it will be a gametime decision. No Thursday night run, though - 3 raid nights in a row is a bit much for some of us on the team, so we'll concentrate on these 2 nights and especially on getting Impy down! AOTC or bust, baby!
