I apologize for writing about such unmitigated click bait, but this is just too interesting to ignore. It is like some radical atheist wrote a skit meant to show the hypocrisy of the radical religious right.
Evidently, the Christian Family Research Council, which is the FRC we all know and love, had an avowed child molester employed as executive director of its nonprofit lobbying group. This person is Josh Duggar, the same person that is part of the nationally broadcasted christian family TV show. The allegations are based on a published police report.
The page from the FRC website detailing his qualification as a employee has taken down, but I will quote it in full from the Internet Wayback Machine.
Josh Duggar
Executive Director, FRC Action
Born and raised in Arkansas, Josh is the oldest son of Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar. Josh was homeschooled and graduated from High School at the age of sixteen. In 1998, his father was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives where he served two terms. Following his father's unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate, the national media coverage shifted their focus to the Duggars extraordinary family. A decade later the reality series now called "19 Kids & Counting!" is the longest running reality show on the TLC network.
Intrigued with politics from an early age, Josh began working part time for candidates in Arkansas and elected officials at the State Capitol. In 2006, his political involvement led him to establish Strategic Political Services, a political consulting firm. In addition to politics, Josh owned and operated Duggar Automotive for six years, a pre-owned automotive dealership which he started in 2007.
Josh has had the opportunity to serve on two Presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012, in the latter where he opened numerous rallies and spoke on behalf of the candidate. Drawing from his unique experiences in family, entertainment, politics and business, Josh seeks to use his God-given platform to encourage others to be engaged in the political process.
Note that, evidently, at least one presidential candidate had a child molester on the campaign. Being Arkansas in the mid aughts we might have a good guess.
While this activity happened when he was a young teenager, it involved multiple underage girls, including, evidently, his sisters. The entire affair was covered up and he was sent away to a summer, I guess you call it, pray-the-pevert-away-camp. The police did not formally investigate until 2006. Of course now the statute of limitation protects him from prosecution.
TLC has not made any comments on the status of the show, but did run a 19 Kids and Counting marathon.
Despite the opening, I do not think this is sensationalized. The molestation according to the police report had been going on for years, and the locations of the victims indicate they were not all family members. Though it appears that the family did try to intervene, possible by reporting the crime, definitely by send Josh away to camp, it is unclear whether the molestation stopped.
It is an open question why a formal investigation was opened in 2006, when Josh would have been around 17.
It is not an open question that a nationally televised Christian family harbored a child molester. It is not an open question that a nationally prominent christian hate group employed a child molester. I really would think that a christian group like the FRC might ask, during the interview, have you ever been accused of molesting someone, or perhaps do a background check that might have brought up a police report from 2006.
