Several years ago I made one of the smartest decisions of my life -- buying a piece of
Bill in Portland Maine's soul. I mean, just think about it: how many people get to own someone else's soul? There's Satan, and ... I think that about covers it. Well, except for those of us who have decided to partake in a bit of Bill's soul.
It's quite delicious. It makes us laugh in the morning, except on Fridays when he gives us West Coasters a taste of his genius with a late-afternoon edition. It allows new community members to dip their toes into a kiddie pool, rather than the raging waters of most of the rest of the site. And it comes in handy whenever Satan comes wandering by and wants to deal in souls.
How do you think I've avoided aging a single day these last few years?
Bill is a Daily Kos institution not just because of the work he does, but because he has always been a community project -- we have come together to fund one of our best. In fact, it's hard to imagine a Daily Kos community without Bill square in the center of it.
Which brings up two important points. One, let's keep this community institution going. I'm a monthly contributor, and I'd recommend you guys do the same. Even if it's just a few bucks a month, say, the price of one or two lattes, that goes a long way when there's so many of us who appreciate his work. But one-time help is awesome too!

You've gone ahead and contributed? No? Go ahead and do it now.
Now? Okay, good. So now there's just the matter of Bill's title. We don't have one.
So use the comments to suggest alternatives, I'll package them up in the next few days and we can vote on them early next week.
